The Nitty Gritty

Running Around to Find Toilet Paper is not Exercise

Being cooped up inside with limited activity is not good for your physical or mental health. Getting moving can help decrease anxiety and increase your brain function. But given our current quarantine lifestyle, you may have to be a little creative with your fitness routine.

One option is to take advantage of the many online fitness programs that are temporarily offering free or discounted access:

  • 305 Fitness – Fun, free, dance cardio workouts

  • Active by POPSUGAR – Due to self-isolation standards, POPSUGAR has released their new fitness app early and for FREE. Hundreds of workouts from celebrity trainers and fitness experts that can easily be done at home

  • Peloton – FREE 90-day access, you will need to enter your credit card information but will NOT be charged for the first 90 days

  • Nike Training Club – FREE workout programs designed by professional Nike trainers to help you reach your fitness goals

  • Nike Run Club – FREE run tracking and training with running coaches

Yoga & Meditation:

  • The Breathing App – Practice mindfulness, meditation and reduce your stress with FREE quick and easy breathing techniques

  • Cosmic Kids Yoga – Interactive free yoga that your children (ages 3+) can enjoy with or without parents

  • Yoga with Adriene – FREE yoga classes geared to beginners, including classes focusing on back pain and weight loss

Other Fitness Classes:

  • Blogilates – Join certified fitness instructor Cassey Ho for FREE full-length POP Pilates and other fun at home class style workouts

  • Fitness Blender – Hundreds of FREE at home workout videos for any fitness level with everything from core training to Pilates and yoga

When selecting from one of these options, don’t forget to read the time frames for free access. Depending on the app you may be limited to the number of days access will be free.

If nothing else, go for a long walk outdoors in location that allows you to follow social distancing guidelines. Your stress doesn’t stand a chance against activity and fresh air.
