Online Safety Tips

When doing business online, consider this.

Vigilance always pays off

You probably make online purchases without even thinking about them. They're quick and convenient. But consider these point to ensure you don't fall victim to any schemes.

Create a Strong Password for Your Computer

The stronger your password, the more protected your computer will be from hackers and malicious software. Here's what makes for a strong password:

  • At least eight characters long
  • Does not contain your user name, real name, or company name
  • Does not contain a complete word
  • Significantly different from previous passwords
  • Contains characters from each of the following four categories - upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols

Use the Proper Website

Fraudsters do a great job of creating fake websites that look like the real thing. They're trying to trick you into providing confidential information such as account numbers and passwords, allowing them access to your funds and identity information. Always verify you're on the right website before accessing your account and completing transactions, checking your balance(s), etc.
